Refreshing my Collection for Spring
As winter's chill fades, spring’s warmth calls for a refreshing ritual in our homes and bookshelves! There’s a unique joy in flipping through the pages of a new book or revisiting an old favorite as the world around us begins to warm up.
Spring Cleaning: Making Space for New Titles
I don't know about you, but as the sun shines brighter each day, it inspires me to declutter, including my bookshelf. Spring cleaning comes to mind. Sure, I may wash the curtains or clean windows that have accumulated months of dirt and dust, but my books may also catch my eye on various surfaces throughout my house.
I'm easily distracted by this. I'll grab a book and think, "Oh, I haven't read that one in a while!" and put it aside to put in my to-be-read pile. Or I'll find one that I've read but doesn't quite earn the spot of "I need to read that again" on my shelf.
I don't know about you, but I have a hard time letting go of books. I have several bins in my attic and books in each room, and I have no idea how many I have saved on my Kindle.
Spring arrives, and I get the bug to "purge," as I call it. But when it comes to books, I have difficulty boxing them up to donate. I plan to donate a selection to my local thrift stores, knowing that the right person will find the right book and begin a journey outside their own world. The magic of words!
New Additions to My Bookshelf

With space cleared, I will inevitably find new books to put on my shelves. I am fortunate to have amazing guests on my podcast, Let Fear Bounce. Most of them are authors, and many have gifted me a book. In return, I am happy to read each and provide a review.
As I looked through a pile of books in my office, I came across several books I had received. I have already read a few, and a couple are on the "to be read" list. It is exciting to look forward to what world I may be able to step into next! I also plan on dipping into one of my books to remind myself why I do what I do as a writer and podcaster.
Reconnecting with old friends
There’s something deeply satisfying about reconnecting with authors and books that stuck with me or have influenced my view of the world.
I have favorites, and lately, I have found myself gravitating toward cozy fantasy or chick lit—easy, relaxing reads that have me laughing and, at times, shedding a tear or two.
My tastes change occasionally, and I'll read different genres, but it is still a thrill to find a new favorite author or revisit an old favorite. What are some books that you can't bear to let go of?
Embracing the Shift
So, as we transition from the cold of winter to the warmth of spring, or whatever the case may be in your slice of the world, it's the perfect time to refresh your bookshelf. The options are endless, whether you are creating new stories yourself or enjoying reading your old favorites. Be sure to enjoy the journey!
I encourage you to spend some time with your own collection of books. Consider which you want to keep and explore new titles that catch your eye.
Let’s welcome a new season with a fresh cup of coffee, books on your shelves, and an open mind to explore new worlds and meet new characters!

Speaking of Nuggets of Hope, my newest book, released last November, is available on Amazon.
Nuggets of Hope, Cultivate Kindness invites you to embark on a journey of kindness for others and yourself.
Be sure to grab a copy for yourself or gift it to a friend who may need a dose of hope. Let's face it, folks, the world could use more kindness and hope. Let's all do our part to make our slices of the world a better place.

And for all you animal lovers, don't forget about the Paw Print books! They're also available on Amazon: Paw Prints on the Couch and Paw Prints on the Kitchen Floor.
There will be a third edition of the Paw Prints series anthologies, Paw Prints on The Front Porch.
If you are interested in participating, email contact@kimlenglingauthor.com and put Paw Prints in the Subject line.
Participating as a co-author is free. Proceeds from any online sales of the book will go to The ANNA Shelter, a no-kill shelter in my area that has been helping neglected and abused animals for over twenty years. Let's make a difference together! Share your pet's story!
Until next month, be well, stay well, and be blessed!
