Hey Humans! It’s Me, Dexter

And I’ve Got Big News!

ree

Dexter here, your favorite furry office manager and cheese taster.

And what about that picture of me!? Lady Mum says I look very handsome. I think I look very smart. Anyway…

I’ve been keeping a big secret (okay, not that big. I told the mailman, two chipmunks, and the neighbor’s cat). But now I can finally spill the beans…even though my Lady Mum has been telling you for weeks. It doesn’t matter; it’s my turn! Yay!

My Lady Mum has a brand-new eBook coming out called 15 Ways Pets Teach Us Kindness! And guess what? I’m in it. Like, a lot.

Yeah, me, I have a paw in this one.

I’ve been teaching my Lady Mum all kinds of stuff for a long time. Stuff like patience, love, just being there, and noticing little things that most of you humans rush right past. You’d be surprised how much smarts fits inside a good long sniff.

NOTE: Lady Mum helped me number the next part cuz I don’t know numbers, and Lady Mum said it would be easier for humans to read if there were numbers involved. You humans and your numbers, for the stuff called money and time and lists and whatever, too many numbers! Anyway, here we go…

1. Patience (Or as I call it, The Snack Waiting Game)

Humans, you’re always running here, running there… running out of coffee. But me? I can wait. I sit. I stay. I watch the world go by, and when it’s dinner time, I wait patiently (okay, mostly). Patience isn’t easy, but it’s worth it, especially when there’s chicken involved, or cheese, or peanut butter, or a Busy Bone.

2. Be Present, Because Now Is Pretty Awesome

You humans like to think a lot. About tomorrow, next week, or some big scary “what if.” But why not settle on the now? It’s awesome.

The wind smells like adventure and squirrels. The grass feels cushy and like happiness. The bugs are cool (but again, don’t eat them, trust me on that one).

Sometimes I just sit and breathe in all the smells: chipmunks, leaves, maybe that neighbor cat that stares at me from across the yard. You should try it sometime. You might be surprised how peaceful the world feels when you stop for a minute and just… sniff.

3. Love Is Simple, So Keep It That Way

I don’t need fancy stuff to be happy. Just my Lady Mum, sunshine, and maybe a squeaky toy (I like to rip the squeaker out as soon as I get a new toy).

Love doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s in the small things, the walks, the pets, the way you show up for your person or anyone really, every day.

That’s the real secret behind 15 Ways Pets Teach Us Kindness. It’s not just about me (though I am pretty awesome). It’s about how us pets: dogs, cats, birds, horses, even those weird hamsters, remind you humans how to love big, forgive fast, and snuggle often.

So, here’s the deal: You can pre-order 15 Ways Pets Teach Us Kindness on Amazon right now. Go on, give your thumbs some exercise and click that link.

And if you humans behave yourselves and practice patience (I did mention that earlier, remember?), there might be an expanded print version coming later. But don’t rush me, I’m a dog, not a machine. A guy can only do so much between naps and patrols of the backyard, and of course, my Lady Mum has to type it all on her computer thing.

Now, go do something kind today, give a belly rub, toss a ball, or just sit quietly with your favorite furry friend.

Until next time, keep your tails wagging and your hearts open.

🐾Love, Dexter
