Savor the Last Sips of Summer—With a Good Book and a Gentle Breeze

Dexter, the office manager, soaking up the sun.

Can you feel it? That subtle shift in the air? September is here, gently whispering that summer is starting to wind down, but not quite ready to say goodbye. There’s still time to soak up golden evenings, sip something cold on the porch, and lose yourself in the pages of a good book.

For me, these late summer days are a favorite chapter of the year. The mornings are slower, the sun a little softer, and my dog (Dexter, my self-appointed Office Manager) is all about our daily strolls, pausing at every leaf, nose in the air with every breeze, as if he's reminding me to really enjoy the moment. And ya know what? He’s smart. We DO need to pause and enjoy the moment.

I look at this time of year as a season of reflection, curling up with stories that make you smile, and for quiet moments that fill your cup, sometimes literally, with coffee in hand.

A Book to Keep You Company

If you're looking for a feel-good companion to carry you into fall, I’d love to introduce you to Paw Prints on the Kitchen Floor. This anthology is filled with stories that will tug at your heartstrings and make you laugh out loud, because, let’s be honest, pets have a magical way of doing both.

Each story celebrates the beautiful bond we share with our four-legged friends. It’s the perfect book to pair with a breezy afternoon on the porch or an end-of-summer picnic in the park.

Or, check out Nuggets of Hope: Cultivate Kindness. A book all about kindness, why it’s important, and how it doesn’t cost you a dime to be kind. You CAN change your slice of the world for the better.

Relax, Breathe, Repeat

There you’ll find calming nature videos, soft music to relax or pray by, and real conversations from the Let Fear Bounce podcast—featuring everyday people sharing their powerful, hope-filled stories.

Whether you're savoring a solo moment with a book, walking your own furry buddy, or just trying to slow the pace of your days, I hope you'll take a moment to pause, breathe deep, and soak in this gentle transition from summer to fall.

What’s New?

What’s new? I’m glad you asked!

My new ebook, 15 Ways Pets Teach Us Kindness, will be released on November 5, 2025, and is now available for pre-order. What?? Yep! More nuggets of hope, but from our furry friend’s perspective, and of course, Dexter shares a bit of his canine wisdom throughout.

So, head on over to Amazon and pre-order today!

🐾Office Manager Update🐾

Hey humans! Dexter here, your trusty four-legged Office Manager, chipmunk chaser, and professional nap-taker.

Now, let me tell you… September is REALLY GOOD porch-sittin’ weather. The air smells different, like crunchy leaves, field mice running, and those squirrels, the squirrels are getting extra brave while gathering all their acorns and stuff. Which means I’m on high alert.

But what's really important? My job keeping Lady Mum (that’s Kim to you) on track. Morning walks? I kinda insist on them. Afternoon snack breaks? Supervised and inspired by me. And if she gets too stuck in writing or that podcast editing stuff, I use the power of my stare until she remembers what’s important, me, walks, treats... and maybe a good book.

She’s been reading Paw Prints on the Kitchen Floor and sharing some of the stories with me, and it’s got a neat mix of stories about all of your pets. If I were a human and could turn pages and read words, I’d get a copy.

That’s it for now. Gotta go. There’s a sunbeam on the rug with my name on it.

Stay pawsitive,

Dexter, Office Manager, Head of Walks & Treat Inventory
